Educators who are effective at using data to improve student outcomes will need to have high levels of Information, Statistical and Data Literacy. The modules listed to your right provide teachers, principals, and senior administration with resources, links, and tips on how to achieve the following outcomes:

Information Literacy

• Know how to access information about student achievement, curriculum, sources/resources, and best practices
• Have the ability to communicate test results to parents and students; ongoing formative feedback for improvement
• Know how to access information about the school, e.g. EQAO results, staffing, program, school/community demographics, student attitudes

• Understand, interpret and communicate student achievement results, e.g. EQAO, board wide assessments, report card data, standardized assessment data
• Have an understanding of descriptive statistics, know how to use technology to interpret charts and graphs, make appropriate comparisons and interpretations using school data

Data Literacy

• Understand the student information system in their school and identify data quality issues
• Have an ability to use data warehouse/student decision support tools
• Have knowledge of how to use data presentation software effectively
